Betty Doyle, Kayleigh Campbell and Nivetha Tilakkumar will be performing work exploring women’s bodies, the expectations attached to them, and their place in a patriarchal society.
Betty Doyle is a poet and student living and working in Merseyside. Her work has appeared in journals and magazines such as Agenda, Butcher's Dog, Poetry Wales, And Other Poems, and most recently placed second in Brag magazine's poetry prize. She is currently studying for a PhD in Creative Writing at Manchester Metropolitan University, researching infertility poetics. Her debut poetry pamphlet, Girl Parts, was published by Verve Poetry Press in Spring 2022, and was hailed as being 'tender, fierce, full of joy and rage' by Helen Mort. Twitter: betty_poet
Kayleigh Campbell has a PhD in Creative Writing and she is a member of the Editorial Board for Grist Books. Matryoshka is her debut poetry collection, published by Verve Poetry Press (April, 2022). She was shortlisted for the 2021 Bridport Prize and her work has appeared in the likes of Butcher’s Dog, Rialto and Stand.
Nivetha Tilakkumar is a 25 year old spoken word poet based in Leeds. Her poetry is heavily based on her identity as a second-generation Eela Tamil immigrant and she often explores the intersections between being Brown, Queer and a woman. Nivetha has been performing for the last 4 years and has performed for Leeds Poetry Festival, Leeds Literature Festival, the Tetley, Race Zine and was part of Daytimers' first South Asian poetry evening 'Mehfil'. She was also featured on the Daytimers x Big Dyke Energy Pride Month compilation: 'Celebrating Pride: For the Community, By the Community'.
