The Radical Reading Group Monthly Book Group

Join us for our Radical Reading Book Group! We’re getting together every month to discuss a book from our Reading Room Library – which you can find at Left Bank in collaboration with Pluto Books.

Our book group is informal and everyone is welcome, so pop down and chat about some timely political topics. We’ll chat about the book and the themes it looks at, so you definitely don’t need to be an expert, and you are more than welcome to come along, listen and learn too.

For those who couldn’t make it last time, we read The Wretched of the Earth, so make sure to add it to your reading list for a fab read.

Tangled in Terror by Suhaiymah Manzoor Khan!

Here’s a little bit more about this month’s read:

Islamophobia is everywhere. It is a narrative and history woven so deeply into our everyday lives that we don't even notice it – in our education, how we travel, our healthcare, legal system and at work. Behind the scenes it affects the most vulnerable, at the border and in prisons. Despite this, the conversation about Islamophobia is relegated to microaggressions and slurs.

Suhaiymah Manzoor-Khan reveals how Islamophobia not only lives under the skin of those who it marks, but is an international political project designed to divide people in the name of security, in order to materially benefit global stakeholders. It can only be truly uprooted when we focus not on what it is but what it does.

You can currently buy the book 50% off on Pluto Books (offer ends 1May) or with our usual 40% code before our next meet. If you’d like the discount code please drop an email to

The book is also available to purchase in local independent book shops, we recommend The Bookish Type and Truman Books.
