We’re chuffed to be hosting the Bite of Leeds: Food and Arts Market at Left Bank! A one-off afternoon event on Sunday 1st of May, expect an ace line-up of local food, makers & more!

We spoke to Abi, one of the organisers of the Bite of Leeds, to find out more.

Hey Abi! What can you tell us about the market?

Bite of Leeds is a new and exciting market that will be happening over the May bank holiday weekend, run by a group of students at Leeds Beckett in support of Crohn’s and Colitis UK charities. We’ve personally had family members affected by Crohn’s, so this event will raise money and awareness for the charity.

You can expect a great range of food options. We’re joined by local pizza-makers the Slice is Right; we have vegan options, cookies, charcuterie boards. We also have an array of arts and crafts makers joining us — and there will be a bit of live music too!

Why did you pick Left Bank as the venue?

We really love the space — we actually picked the venue before we chose what style of event to host. I come to Left Bank and do yoga on Wednesday mornings. It’s just such a versatile space, with everything from weddings to kids hip hop dance classes and markets.

And why choose to do a market for your event?

Many of the other students were doing big music events and clubbing nights; we wanted to do something entirely different. Three of us in our group run our own small businesses as well. I have a business with my sisters called Courage's Horses, Hounds and Houses, Amiarha runs a company called Dreamz Come True specialising in gifting, event planning and balloon decor; and Emily runs a business selling luxury cakes (it's called Luxury Bakes!). We wanted to show our support for other local independents — especially as it’s been such a tough couple of years!

The Bite of Leeds Food & Arts Market is a free, one-off event happening on Sunday 1st of May — from 12PM - 6PM. You can follow Bite of Leeds on Instagram here, and on Facebook here.
