Portrait Painting Workshop with Luke Thompson

Join us for a workshop designed to provide you with an introduction to portrait painting, completed from a reference image with tuition and guidance along the way.

Over the course of the day, you will learn to complete a portrait painting through the development of your observational drawing skills, your painting technique, and your understanding of colour and colour mixing.

This workshop will place a focus on the understanding of light and shadow, proportion, and form, bringing our own individual expression along the way. While artist, Luke Thompson guilds you through the philosophy of seeing as an artist and understanding the main fundamentals of portraiture through paint.

Luke Thompson is representational painter, predominantly working with portraits, the figure, and still life. He works with traditional methods of oil painting and charcoal drawing and look to capture the narrative of nature as it is seen and experienced with a focus on light, shadow and form.
