Animikii Theatre present The Kaspar Hauser Experiment

We are delighted to welcome Animikii Theatre to Left Bank with their latest production 'The Kaspar Hauser Experiment'.

It’s 1828 and a strange boy calling himself ‘Kaspar Hauser’ appears in the town square claiming to have been held prisoner in a darkened cell for 17 years. But who is he really? Conman? Orphan? Or an abducted prince caught in the middle of a political game?
You are invited to witness key testimonies from those who know him best, hear the conspiracies and rumours that surround him and watch Kaspar try to uncover the facts.

The riddle of this true story has fascinated and intrigued people for centuries, inspiring books, films, and music. This important story confronts how we care for those most in need and sheds light on how society can, all too easily, corrupt the purest of souls. In this brand-new adaptation, Animikii Theatre bring the mystery to life through fearless imagination, text, movement, and song.

The show will run for 90 MINS (approx) with an interval.

Warnings: There are Themes of isolation and captivity, scenes of abuse and violence, loud noises

Animikii Theatre
was created in 2014 by Adam Davies and Henry McGrath. Through the adaptation of MYTHS and LEGENDS we are driven by a singular focus of creating a UK based laboratory theatre company that is progressive, modern and responsive to the needs of society in the 21st Century. The worlds we create and the characters we craft are fearlessly re-imagined in each new production. Animikii are committed to serving each story’s essential expression with fidelity to the unique principles of one of humanity’s most ancient traditions, theatre.

Commissioned by The Lowry Theatre, Spot On Lancashire and Cheshire Rural Touring in 2016 Animikii made their debut production Origins which premiered at The Lowry Theatre (2015) before playing the ‘A Nation’s Theatre’ festival at The Southbank Centre (2016), touring to six rural touring venues and later earned the ‘Pick of the Fringe’ award (Voice Magazine) at Edinburgh Festival Fringe (2017). The play then toured nationwide and internationally (2016-18) engaging with 1300 people over 33 performances.
