Join us to explore Micha Carroll-Frazer's recently published book, Mad World: The Politics of Mental Health
Mad World - Explores the history of asylums and psychiatry; the relationship between disability justice, queer liberation and mental health; art and creativity; prisons and abolition; and alternative models of care; Mad World is a radical and hopeful antidote to pathologisation, gatekeeping and the policing of imagination.
Author Micha Carroll-Frazer will talk to us about her work, the book and some of the themes explored within it.
Following the talk from Micha, there'll be a Q&A panel to discuss the politics and impact of mental health hosted by Spoken Word Artist and Artivist Simone Yasmin.
Panelists include Spoken Word Artist and Community Arts Non-Profit founder Denetta Copeland, Actor Ruby Barker and Micha Carroll-Frazer.
Ruby Barker will also share her personal experience with mental health challenges. Ruby best known for her role in the CBBC's hit fantasy drama, Wolfblood (2017) and the Netflix hit Bridgerton. Ruby has played her first lead in an independent feature film, "How To Stop A Recurring Dream" for which she received best lead actress from the Urban film awards.
