Community Art Class | Dog Portraits (Self Directed Session)

Join Our Community Art Class – Now Open to Everyone! 🎨

Originally set up in partnership with OWLS (Older Wiser Leeds Seniors) for local older adults, we’re excited to announce that our popular Art Class is now open to everyone in the community!

In our effort to provide affordable, accessible creative opportunities for all, we invite you to come along and join our friendly, welcoming group. This is a fantastic chance to enjoy the benefits of being creative, meet new people, and explore a wide variety of artistic practices.

This week we’ll be joined by artist and workshop facilitator Michael Rios, who specialises in technical drawings particularly that of the animal kingdom!

Michael will guide the group through the technical aspects of ratio and perspective to drawing your animal, guiding you through building on this to add details as you go. Throughout these sessions you will explore a variety of mediums - from fine liners to pastels as you develop your own style.

Michael will lead the session through 3 guided sessions, the fourth session will be a self directed session continuing through what you have learnt with the support of the group and our volunteers. ** these final self directed sessions help balance costs for faciliation.

Each session is led by a mix of practicing artists, including both paid professionals and volunteers, helping us keep the group sustainable while also supporting early-career artists with paid opportunities.

We have concession tickets for the community as well as tickets for those who may be able to pay forward to help support us in paying for artists & materials.

✨ Over the months the group has explored Lino Printing, Portrait Painting, Collage, Illustration, Botanical Drawing and LOADS MORE!

☕ Our on-site café is open too — perfect for a drink, snack, or lunch before or after class.

Come get creative with us — we’d love to see you there!
