Take some time for yourself to write, reflect, and reconnect with your creativity at Left Bank in this new creative writing workshop with Jess.
These relaxed sessions offer a calm and supportive space to explore creative writing as a reflective and wellbeing practice. Whether you’re new to writing or returning after time away, you’re warmly welcome.
Jess is a Leeds-based writer and educator, and the founder of Plot and Purpose, a creative project exploring writing as a tool for reflection, creativity and wellbeing. She creates supportive, welcoming spaces where people can explore their experiences, build confidence in their writing, and reconnect with storytelling in a meaningful way.
What to expect?
Each session is self-contained, so you can come along whenever it suits you (depending on interest we are hoping to make these sessions monthly!). Sessions begin with a short grounding exercise to help you arrive, followed by some gentle craft teaching and then a guided writing prompt to get you started. You’ll then have time to write at your own pace, with the option to share your work and take part in group reflection if you wish. Sharing is always invited, but never expected.
These sessions are designed to help you make space for creativity in your week, reflect and process your thoughts through writing, build confidence in your voice, and connect with others in a relaxed and supportive environment.
This is for you if you’re looking for a low-pressure way into creative writing, enjoy journalling, reflection or storytelling, want a calm creative reset in your week, or prefer flexibility rather than committing to a structured course. No prior experience is needed—just bring yourself and something to write with.
