Join local artist and Left Bank regular, Dawn Smallwood, for the launch of her first solo exhibition. This exhibition in our porch gallery, will be a exploration of the seasons through Dawns eyes. Showcasing her own individual way of celebrating the passing of time in nature and ourselves.
Dawn is a Leeds based artist that regularly attends our weekly Doodle Chats, a growing community of artists hosted by Edek Thompson.
'Transition and change whether physically, mentally, emotionally, psychologically or environmentally influence and impact on everyone, everything and everywhere. Personally, as well as this it inspires my creativity and how this contributes towards my practice. I particularly notice this more so when seasons changes, especially its transitions.
Whatever changes and adjustments each season bring there is always something transitive and non-transitive to notice and be mindful about. I like to document these seasonal journeys as part of my practice which I cherish and embrace literally and figuratively.
My work exhibited document how each season personally impacts me whether positively or negatively and how this influences my response to what I see, hear and feel around me. It gives me an impetus to see how my practice and creative journey continues transitively to be developed and refined.'
