Join us for an new solo exhibition from local Leeds based artist Chris Eastham, Chris is a contemporary figurative artist from Leeds. She trained at Leeds Jacob Kramer College of Art, (now Leeds Arts University) and has a Fine Art Degree from Nottingham Trent. Her work is mainly in oils but she also undertakes printmaking and digital art.
She has a strong sense of draughtsmanship - expressed primarily through her work in portraiture and figure painting. In 2020, Chris was a successful contestant on the popular television program, ‘Sky Television Portrait Artist of The Year’ and has undertaken numerous portrait commissions.
Chris contributed to the rebirth of Neville Street, Leeds and was one of ten selected artists to have her mural, ‘A thread through time,’ featured on the Network Rail murals. Most recently Chris has been exploring her own Northern identity through a series of paintings in which she uses archive photography of the people and places which form part of her Yorkshire heritage.
The exhibition, ‘Northern Soul’ is a collection of her most recent work exploring identity within the north and will be displayed at Left Bank from September 3rd to October 10th (viewable during our café opening times only).
