Be part of our community map for Heritage Open Day!
Join us for a creative, hands-on drawing session as part of Framed In Leeds – a new arts and heritage project celebrating the hidden stories, architecture, and culture of Headingley and Hyde Park. This free workshop is part of our contribution to Heritage Open Day 2025, the national festival celebrating community history and creativity.
📍 What’s happening?
We’ll be using a beautiful set of photographs taken by local volunteer artists and photographers, capturing architectural details from key heritage sites across the area – everything from carved stonework and iron gates to stained glass windows and tiled shopfronts.
You’ll be invited to create quick-fire observational drawings based on these photos. These aren’t formal art sessions – it’s about looking closely, having fun, and celebrating the character of our local buildings through your own mark-making.
🗺️ Your drawings will help build our community Arts Trail Map!
Every sketch you make will help us pinpoint the locations of these historic sites, and we’ll scan and archive your drawings at the end of the session to include in the final design of the Framed In Leeds Heritage Trail Map, launching later this year.
Framed In Leeds is a community-led project exploring the rich social and architectural heritage of the Headingley & Hyde Park area, supported by local volunteers, artists, and historians. Through walking trails, creative workshops, and visual storytelling, we’re re-framing how we see our everyday environment – and inviting the public to get involved in shaping the final map.
