This January, Left Bank is inviting adults to stay creative through the winter with a cosy, hands-on Willow Lantern Making Workshop. Designed as a relaxed and sociable session, this workshop is a chance to slow down, learn a new skill, and spend a creative evening together during the darker weeks of the year.

Led by Left Bank as a community group, you’ll be guided through the process of shaping willow frames and transforming them into beautiful lanterns. Whether you’re completely new to working with willow or already enjoy hands-on making, this workshop is open to all—no previous experience needed.

These sessions also invite participants to be part of something bigger. The lanterns created will be perfect to bring along to a special Wassailing celebration in Burley Park, taking place at the end of January and run by Friends of Burley Park. The event will include music, dancing, and a glowing lantern procession, lighting up the park with creativity and community spirit.

A £5 ticket helps cover the cost of materials and supports Left Bank in continuing to offer creative, community-led activities throughout the year.

Arrival
When you arrive, please check in with the staff at the café to confirm your table for the workshop. We often have a few different events happening in the building at the same time, so this helps us get you settled quickly.

All materials are provided.

Food & Drink
Our café and bar will be open for light food and drinks throughout the workshop.
Please note: no external food or drink may be consumed inside the building.

Parking
We have very limited Blue Badge parking onsite (first come, first served).
There is also free on-street parking available on the surrounding residential streets, just a short walk from Left Bank.
